On September, 19 from the morning in the Park of forged figures XII special international festival of blacksmithing skill started. Next to the majestic figure of forged Blacksmith the flag of the Guild was raised. The honored worker of arts, the Chairman of the Guild of blacksmiths of Donbas Victor Burduk made a welcome speech and congratulated all those present with a wonderful holiday that has become traditional for a majority of Donetsk. Then there was the opening and consecration of the new piece “Save and Protect”. The composition is forged cross, assembled from the remains of the blacksmith shop in which were shells in 2014. Roses, as you know, are the symbol of the city of Donetsk. Pigeons on the top of the construction have come to us from all over the world, including European countries. In the center it stands the icon of the Donetsk’s mother of God. After the sculpture was removed from polyethylene, a priest blessed it. As Victor Burduk assured now “Save and Protect” with the Donetsk’s mother of God will protect our city from all evils.
At the same time the blacksmiths fueled their mountain; on the tables and tents they were selling ready- made wrought iron – dig horseshoes and small horseshoes, doves, hearts, ashtrays, roses, snails, candle holders, petals and other souvenirs. But most of the guests of the festival wanted to buy just-made products. It should be noted that the priest who consecrated the new shape “Save and Protect”, walked around the Park and sanctified blacksmiths and their tools. The blacksmiths started to work with God’s blessing. New pigeons, roses and hearts were born on the anvils which for an hour could find their buyers. Also the blacksmiths conducted master classes for children and what was forged – was given as a gift.
And while the blacksmiths were forging their happiness to the music of “Rock-forge”, the pitmen managed to see demonstrations of equestrian sports club “Tattersall”, make friends with the horses and even ride on them for a nominal fee.
Following a long tradition, Victor Burduk held ancient ceremony with the newlyweds– “the blacksmith’s wedding”: together with the groom he forged two hearts that then newlyweds were holding. Pre-forging of the “sun” was in the furnace, which then Burduk printed these same hearts, initials of the bride and groom and the wedding date. At the end of the ceremony, the couple and Burduk drank from wrought goblets.
In addition on this day the show was held by the knights of club of historical reconstruction “Triumph” and show of force heroes, our countryman Dmitry Haladzhis.
Closer to the end of the festival the audience were fed delicious porridge with meat, cooked over a campfire.
