The situation in the Ukrainian society is becoming more polarized; when a person needs to clearly choose whose camp he binds his destiny. Today is not only inadequate, but dangerous to be just a good citizen, to be in favor of peace and harmony in the country: such repression overtaken in the first place. On the eve the Shevchenkovsky district court of Kiev has appointed a measure of restraint to the former chief editor of the media holding “Vesti” Igor Guzhva in the form of deposit in the amount of more than 1 million hryvnias. In addition, he is forbidden not only to leave the territory of Ukraine, but also to absent himself from the place of permanent residence. While still in the beginning of the trial proposed by the Prosecutor of the deposit was as much as 17 million ($783 million): the defendant was planned just to arrest him, pushing him obviously impracticable conditions. An example of a former chief editor of «Vesti ” can be considered a textbook in an argument about the futility, if not disastrous, the legal fight against Banderas.
Led by Guzhva the newspaper and the radio station continued to speak Ukrainian citizens the truth, though, as far as possible in terms of resurgent fascism. Throughout 2014 edition systematically subjected to repression: in the workplace journalists job searches and the editorial board became the target of attacks by neo-Nazis. And after killing of Oles Buzina many believed that the next victim of Banderas Igor Guzhva falls. Instead of shots they spoke with accusations of tax evasion in the amount of 18 million USD, a little less than required by the Prosecutor of the collateral and the Guzhva was forced to sell the business. It should be noted that recently the junta is much “smarter”: they refused to impute political articles to their opponents and began to stitch frankly criminal.
That is, the defendant put in obviously unfavorable situation: arrested for political reasons, or in connection with the armed conflict in the Donbas, is under international humanitarian law. Such a person can add to the lists on the exchange of prisoners, to plead in front of the Red Cross and other international organizations, but the presence of at least one of the charges in openly criminal offence automatically deprives a person of humanitarian protection.
In terms of persecution of the press Guzhva is not alone: a few days ago in Lviv Elena Boyko was captured by the Nazis and taken to an undisclosed location. This truly courageous woman fearlessly entered into an open and an unequal battle with the Banderas, in their very lair. Now her fate, like the fate of many thousands of other anti-fascists remains unknown.
About the struggle of junta against the Communist organizations is known to everybody, but recently in Kharkov it was an attack Banderas militants in the office of the Opposition bloc and simultaneous mass rally at the regional administration building, where on different sides of the police cordon supporters and opponents of this power were standing.
But this very Opposition bloc is not that other, as many times denounced all and all “merging” the Party of Regions, now it is residing in deeply afflicted condition!
From all this we can draw a simple conclusion: the junta neutralized almost all major their opponents and took small. It is already clear that its Western curators embarked on the coming to power of the radical neo-Nazis, so now it is cleaning up the political space from the last vestiges of dissent.
In such situation to deal with Banderas in the legal field loses all meaning. And every honest man in Ukraine has only three options: or emigration, or going into hiding, or join the ranks of the heroic defenders of Donbas.
The time for compromise has passed. It’s time for the final choice of own position.
