По данным российских следователей, с 1 декабря 2014 года по 12 января 2015 года при обстрелах Донецка, Горловки, Докучаевска, Еленовки и других населенных пунктов были убиты более 40 человек, более 120 получили ранения различной степени тяжести.
Обстрелы велись из установок залпового огня «Град», «Ураган», самоходных артиллерийских установок «Акация» и «Гвоздика», а также из другого тяжелого вооружения, в том числе с применением зажигательных боеприпасов. В городах были частично или полностью разрушены жилые дома, объекты социальной инфраструктуры и коммуникации.
«Действия лиц из числа высшего политического и военного руководства Украины, осуществляющих командование так называемой антитеррористической операцией, проводимой на юго-востоке Украины, а также подконтрольных им командиров украинских националистических батальонов «Айдар», «АЗОВ» и «ДНЕПР» квалифицируются не иначе как геноцид (ст. 357 УК РФ), то есть уничтожение русскоговорящей группы населения», — подчеркнул официальный представитель Следственного комитета РФ Владимир Маркин.
Новое уголовное дело будет соединено в одном производстве с ранее возбужденным делом о применении запрещенных средств и методов войны.
Всего, по данным СК РФ, с начала силовой операции на юго-востоке Украины погибли, по меньшей мере, 4 тысячи 800 человек. Ранения получили вдвое больше.
