The press secretary of the Turkish foreign Ministry Tanju Bilgic stated that Turkey is not going to compensate Russia for the damage to the downed aircraft su-24, according to CNN Turk.
“To fulfill the requirement of Russia about compensation for downed aircraft is impossible,” said Bilgic on Wednesday.
He added that Russia must provide assurance that its aircraft will not violate Turkish airspace.
The proposal on compensation of damage addressed to the Turkish authorities, was made earlier by the Deputy foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov.
“The leadership of Turkey instead of continue to deny responsibility for what happened and thus to discredit the legitimate actions of Russia in Syria, ought at least to do what dictate international legal standards — to apologize, to repair the damage and to provide safeguards for the execution of such in the future,” said Meshkov.
