All three of the power units of southern-the Ukrainian nuclear power plant (SU NPP, Nykolaev region) have stopped working, reported the press service of “Energoatom”.
“Today, at 09.40 (10.40 Moscow time) the first unit, which identified the malfunction of the turbine control system was disabled for maintenance,” stated in the message.
The second unit was disconnected for repairs on the 21st of March to troubleshoot the cooling system of the generator.
The third unit since March, 6 is for major turnarounds. It will take 98 days.
It is an interesting form of presenting this information by the press service of the company: in the header of the message specifies only the first unit, but it is clear from the text itself that the NPP’s operations ceased. It appears that this is done to avoid panic among the local population, which understands that such frequent disconnections can be a prelude to a large-scale disaster.
