The Crimean precedent is the example of how Russia might respond to an armed invasion in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The Agency’s Director of strategic communications, political scientist Oleg Bondarenko takes this view.
He believes that the example of the Crimea has inspired the residents of Donbas to fight back from openly nationalist forces, which now seized control of the Ukrainian government. The expert did not rule out that the attempt of Kiev to resolve the issue of the LPR and the DPR by force, the Russian army will receive the mandate for an operation to enforce peace, as it did in Georgia in 2008.
About it the political scientist writes in his column on the pages of “Moskovsky Komsomolets”.
“The Crimean precedent became possible only after the Ukrainian abscess was opened, which for many years were under the nose, but was not noticed by many domestic decision-makers, says the author. — The principle of “don’t touch it, everything will be good” in relations with Ukraine have led to the emergence on our immediate borders blatantly anti-configured state, considers as its main purpose “to harm the moskal”. Alas, we only reacted — even in the situation with the Crimea, and, returning Russian native Crimean land, we for many years have lost at not less the Russian territory, now part of Ukraine. Of course, the Independent is following the path of an imminent loss of control over their own regions, but — in fairness — the timing of the completion of this process is known to nobody”.
“At the same time, the Crimea has shown the example and given the opportunity the Donbass to climb and today helps Kiev to realize scenario of Russia’s reaction to possible invasion in the DNR-LNR, — emphasizes the analyst. — If in the memorable August of 2008, the Russian army did not reach Tbilisi less than 30 kilometers, in the case of Ukrainian attack on the people’s Republic today, Russia can officially use the entire Arsenal of possibilities — and in addition to providing a land corridor to the Crimea and Transnistria, paired with the emergence of the path of advancing troops of the new republics of the Novorossia, to free from the fascists Kiev and other cities of historical little Russia. This will also be the result of the Crimea”.
