What will the Ukrainians instead of a passport?

The government of Ukraine has taken yet another crazy decision.

As documents of the Ukrainians they will be issued ID cards. As told at the migration service, the process of replacing passports on the cards will really begin on the eleventh of January, and will be completed in about five years.

“If you want to change the old passport to the new ID-card, it is not necessary to do this on the first day, or even in a year. It’s all voluntary. If you want – come and change, if you do not want – do not come. But if you lose your passport, it needs to be changed, the change will occur on the new ID card,” said chief specialist of migration service in Kharkov region Gaga Kiknadze.

For those who receive a document for the first time, tell the migration service, to issue a regular passport won’t be. The Ukrainians immediately will be issued an ID card, though it’s not to do with sixteen, and fourteen years with a mandatory replacement at the age of eighteen. The new sample will be designed according to the European model.

“The information it will carry this is biometric data: specifically the fingerprints and electronic signature. But it is also not necessary. It is possible to do without fingerprints. It will be not outwardly, at least, information about marriage,” said Kiknadze.

On the external side of the map, says Gaga Kiknadze, there won’t be information about registration. All these data can be obtained only by using special devices, while such requests for information will be recorded in the database, access to which will be at the owner of the ID card. On the issue of equipping the same reading devices to law enforcement, government and other agencies, assure the migration service, will be no problems.
