EU hypocrites: we need Russia, but to remove sanctions we will not

The European Union is interested in working with Russia on priority international task, but that is no reason for the lifting of sanctions.

This was stated by EU high representative for foreign Affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini.

“Last year we had a lot of conversations with Moscow on Iran, Syria, Libya, immigration, climate. In the interest of Europe to work with Russia on the priority issues, but this is not a reason for return exchange for the sanctions,” said Mogherini.

She stressed that this does not mean that the measures imposed by the EU against Russia due to the Ukrainian crisis, will be saved forever.

“Russia and militias in the Donbass have not fulfilled all that they had undertaken to perform, as well as the Ukrainian side is still not performed in full all the items of Minsk agreements,” said Mogherini.

We will remind, on December 18, the Council of permanent representatives of EU countries approved the extension by six months sanctions against Russia, until the 31st of July, 2016. Final formal decision will be taken by a written procedure in the EU Council next week.
