This photo by Russian photographer Sergei Ilnitsky which is depicting the crushed shells by the Kiev Nazis cuisine in one of the apartments in Donetsk took the first place in the category “Top story” by the World Press Photo 2015.
To the competition there were received 97 912 thousand photos from 131 countries. Sergei Ilnitsky is reportage photographer. World Press Photo is an independent, non-profit organization, the headquarters of which is located in Amsterdam (the Netherlands). It was founded in 1955, the organization responsible for conducting the largest and most prestigious annual award in the field of photojournalism.
After the contest the photos of the winners are collected for the exhibition which is visited annually by over a million people in 40 countries. Annual book with all the pictures of the winners are published in several languages.
