It’s the official statement of the MFA of the DPR in connection with the publication of provocative cartoons in the magazine “Charlie Hebdo”.
In those days, when millions of people around the world expressed sincere condolences and sympathy to all the people of Russia and several other countries for the tragic deaths of 224 people over the Sinai Peninsula, the famous French magazine “Charlie Hebdo” has published several cartoons, in which the publication openly mocks the memory of the victims.
It is difficult even to imagine what must be going on in the minds of people who consider ridicule the sorrow of an entire people is quite normal and everyday thing. Particularly puzzling is the fact that recently the employees of the publication were victims of horrific tragedies — a daring and cold-blooded terrorist act. At this moment all over the world, including in our state, there were thousands of people who came to the demonstrations with the slogan “I — Charlie “, sounding in hundreds of languages.
However, apparently, the lessons of history, even such a tragic, can not find a proper understanding of part of the French journalistic community. In this regard, it is appropriate to recall the grotesque story of the intention of Nicholas I to send to Paris defaming the memory of the Empress Catherine the Great performance staged in a similar style, 300 thousand “spectators in gray overcoats” that would “Boo” view.
The DPR Ministry of foreign Affairs strongly condemns any manifestations of overt mockery of the memory of tragically killed people, regardless of their nationality or other characteristic. We call on the French authorities to give adequate assessment to such facts, which, in essence, can be equated to the cave xenophobia and hate.
Sincerely,
Department of public relations
