Two priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC MP) are now detained at the Ukrainian checkpoint “Bugas” on suspicion of “aiding and abetting a terrorist organization”. This was reported today by the Ombudsman of the Donetsk national Republic Daria Morozova.
“Ukrainian security forces today at the checkpoint “Bugas” arrested the cleric who was riding in the car with a monk and a mother (the wife of the priest). I still was told the information about the detention only of the priest and the monk, but about the mother I have no data. The clergy, as reported by Ukrainian media, are accused of “aiding and abetting terrorism”.

She noted that the exchange of the clergy will not be easy.
This is not the first story with the arrest of the clergy of the UOC-MP for a year. Earlier Hieromonk Theophan was detained. We managed to exchange him as “one sixteen”. The second detention of priests for the year cannot be named except as a mockery of faith. Ukrainian security forces are not considered in faith. I’m not talking about gross violation of human rights.

She noted that all the data already were sent to the negotiators. “Now we will wait how the situation will develop,” concluded Morozov.
