“The changes, proposed by the bill, will set the legal grounds for the functioning of the existing remand establishments of the Security Service of Ukraine,” stated in the explanatory note of the bill.
It should be noted that human rights activists have repeatedly pointed to the inadmissibility of the existence of such insulators, since, according to the witnesses, a variety of torture were used to the prisoners. In particular, international human rights organizations Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch in 2016 published a report on secret prisons of the SSU. It focused attention on the violation of the violation of human rights and the inadmissibility of the use of physical violence in relation to the dwelling under investigation people.
Then the major part of Ukrainian media have accused human rights organizations of being biased, and the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Hrytsak said that the phenomenon of secret prisons don’t exist, but the SSU has “temporary detention facilities”.
This bill once again points to the fact that modern Ukraine is becoming a police state, in which terror and lies are standard tools of impact on citizens
