The North American hockey League will not allowed their players for the Olympics 2018

The Commissioner of the National hockey League Gary Bettman confirmed that any player in the League will not take part in the Olympic games of 2018 in the South Korea’s Pyeongchang.

“We are not against the Olympics; we are against the disruption of the season. The decision was final,” quotes the Canadian portal Sportsnet by Bettman

On the 4th of April NHL officially announced a ban on players participating in the League in the Olympic Games of 2018 in Pyeongchang.

Earlier, the international ice hockey Federation (IIHF) has advised national federations whose teams will participate in the men’s hockey tournament at the Olympic Games in 2018, to include in the extended request of the players playing in the NHL.

Of course for any athlete the performance at the Olympics under the flag of their homeland is the meaning of life. What is actually stated in the statement of Bettman? Does it have political overtones? It is not yet clear. Also remains not clear the situation with the Russian hockey players: Ovechkin, Kucherov, Tarasenko, Panarin, Kuznetsov, Radulov, and many others. Would they go into the CHL or stay in the NHL – is not yet clear.

The Commissioner of the NHL, of course made his final decision, but Russia has the right to vote, Finland, the Czech Republic and other countries. And anyway, what right has Mr. Bettman to leave the world of the Olympic Games without key players.

The conclusion is only one. The USA wants to have a monopoly on their League. They are no longer interesting in the Olympics, Championships and World Cups.
